GALLERY AND EXHIBITION PROCESS
A Purple Notion: A Studio Experience is a historic farmhouse building reimagined with several rooms used for art displays, classes and workshops and a gift shop entrance that is open to the public in the historic district in downtown Cedar Hill. One of A Purple Notion's goals is to showcase and share the work of local artists and artisans, to provide exposure and recognition for the artists, and to provide an outlet for selling work, if desired. We encourage both established and emerging artists to take advantage of the opportunity to have an exhibit. Shows can be solo, duo, and also group format.
We have lots of interesting options and would love your feedback for them and to offer other ideas as well. For example consider the following:
THROWBACK THURSDAYS: We choose a classic 80's movie to show with a relative technique class in fine art. For example: Beetlejuice the movie. The character Lydia Diets is a sculptor and we'd have a respected and emerging sculptor have a pre-mini show, and teach a follow up class with the movie using air dry clay. You can choose the movie or even music if you'd prefer.
ART and MUSIC IN THE YARD: We feature beautiful grounds year round that are perfect for outdoor classes or even a group exhibition that is akin to a festival of sorts, each can be themed like: We even have Pecan trees, Peach trees and a Mulberry tree that grow on the premises. For example, we have a heavy metal band that will be featured live performance one night and it may be great to have dark and atmospheric art, photography, etc. on display.
PERFORMANCE ART: We would love to have some performance artists in our lineup during the year. Whether it is spoken word, singing, dancing, live art creation, let us know what you're interested in offering.
Classes, Workshops, Events and LEctures
We invite any and all ideas to be considered for our programming and calendar options. We also know how important business aspect to the art market is to artists so we even invite other entrepreneurs and successful business owners to come out and offer classes to help artists monetize their gifts.
A Purple Notion is about arts, culture and the community. We want to provide an unlimited array of offerings that all have a heart of creativity whether it is performance art, writing, music, sculpture, science, fine art and its many genres and more.
If YOU have something you'd like to share with the community in the form of a ticketed workshop or class, or event, please let us know and let's work something out. We'd love to hear from you.
